Civil war cartoons
Masterly Inactivity
This primary source pictures the little men of no importance fighting while the big men, who are probably highly ranked, sit and drink. This shows that our officers and the union officers let low ranked men do all the dirty work while they sat and relaxed. The big men have telescopes to show that even if they let the little men fight they still find ways to spy on each-other (the inventions are probably made by their own little mechanics). At least we only drink one bottle!!! (confederates)

My own civil war cartoon pictures Abraham Lincoln hanging out of a Lighter-Than-Air Balloon (hot air balloon) with a metal cutter trying to break the chains of a slave while a dixie stands there and watches. The slave represents slavery with Lincoln trying to brake its chains but since the south is overdeveloped in the making of iron, it is unbreakable even with the new iron-breaker. Lincoln is in a lighter than air balloon so he can still claim that he hasn’t put a foot over the border. In the background I put the flags of each side, so you know which side is which. I drew the activities of each side: in the back of the north I put factories to show that making machines was more developed in the north and I also put a house to show that there was more population in the north. In the south I put a farm to show that the conditions for growth in our country were better and that we could have more food than Yankees I also put plantations because that was one of the most developed slave economy activities.
Abraham Lincoln: Why...won't...this...break!!!!
Confederate: Sorry pal, that's unbreakable southern iron.
